Saint Maximillian Kolbe.
The pope declared him the patron saint of the twentieth century.
St. Maximillian is the patron saint of drug addicts, families, prisoners, journalists, political prisoners.
St. John Paul II declared him to be “the patron saint of our difficult century.”

St. Maximilian Kolbe was arrested in Poland in February of 1941, and in May sent to the Auschwitz death camp. As prisoner #16670, he eventually laid down his life for another prisoner on August 14, 1941, at the young age of 47.
His feast day is celebrated August 14th, the same day as his death.
